COUNSELLING, CBT AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe space. Sometimes we all need to talk things over with someone outside of our friends and family. Someone who listens respectfully, with empathy and is non judgemental.
Counselling can help you to explore current or past issues which may be impacting your life or relationships. As your Counsellor, I will walk alongside you, offering support and helping you to unpick difficulties and find your way forward, to a more positive future.
It is perfectly natural to feel anxious about seeing a Counsellor for the first time. Like any other relationship, trust takes time to build. Hopefully you will find me warm, non-judgemental and approachable. In the first session we will explore the possibility of working together, and what you want from Therapy. It is also a good opportunity for you to get a sense of whether you would like to work with me and if you feel I am the right Therapist for you. It is really important you feel comfortable with me. Sessions are usually weekly and last 1 hour. You may prefer to have a fixed time and day for us to meet or you may prefer some more flexibility to fit in with childcare and work commitments.
I have my own private room in Central Exeter, where I provide a calm, safe space in a supportive and confidential setting. I am a warm, real and down to earth person. I have a wealth of real life experience as well as qualifications. I have been working therapeutically with people for over 10 years.
I have a Humanistic Integrative approach to working. This means that I am skilled in using several different approaches and ways of working.
I am an Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with BACP (’MBACP Accred’). This means that I have achieved a substantial level of approved training, experience and my practice has been deemed to meet the standard for a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.
I have an up to date DBS check and am fully insured.
I hold a Diploma in Creative CBT, working with the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour and how our perceptions and beliefs affect our lives. I will work with you to assist you to find more helpful ways of managing limiting thoughts and beliefs and help to reduce stress, anxiety and Depression.
In addition to working with individuals I also work with couples,In a supportive environment, we can work together to improve communication and learn how to safely express anger and frustration. Relationship Counselling can deepen your understanding of each other and help you to relate to each other in a more positive way.
Even if things don’t change, Counselling can help you to gain a different perspective on things or help you to decide on the best course of action needed to move forward.
Sometimes talking to someone outside the relationship can be helpful.I will not take sides or judge either party. My role is to help you to understand each other better by being non judgemental, helping you both to feel heard and supported.
I am also trained in Gestalt, Solution Focussed, Person Centred, NLP, Hypnotherapy & EMDR.
I also offer a Supervision service to other Therapists.
AVAILBILITY AND FEES
I work from Tuesday - Friday and occasionally Saturday. My hours of working are 9.00am - 8pm
My standard fees are £40 per hour.
I do have a few spaces at a concessional rate of £25 per hour available for Carers, Students, Service men and women and people on a low income.
