Meditation is not a quick fix method of relaxation or a means to escape from reality. Its a simple technique or tool for change.  The cause of so much of our mental anguish is a resistance to change.  The byproduct of learning to meditate is a flexible mind capable of long periods of concentration. It also increases our sense of goodwill and empathy most importantly for ourselves and also for others.
