Hi all, I'm looking into training in Sports Massage Therapy with the view of entering as a profession.

I'm 35, currently a plumber, living in Reading UK so a newbie to therapy (no previous qualifications apart from A at A-level human biology 17 years ago). Was hoping a few people here might be willing to give me some advice for where to start?

I've found that St Mary's in Twickenham do a level 3 diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (ITEC) - https://www.stmarys.ac.uk/short-courses/massage/intensive-itec-level-3-sports-massage.aspx - is this a good place to start? Is this a reputable college or a joke course?
They also do a level 3 diploma in massage (not sports massage), would there be any benefit in doing both courses? Or doing a massage diploma then upgrading to sports massage (which I found as another option)?

At the moment I'm assuming I'd need to start at level 3, then get 4 and 5, is there anything else I would need?

Really appreciate any advice and please forgive my ignorance.
    Rob

Look at Jing Institute. If you are willing to travel (Brighton/London) it would be an advantage. Excellent courses. Expensive, but worth it.
ITEC is OK - many of my colleagues started with them, but went elsewhere for advanced training.
Another therapy you could consider is Bowen Technique.
40+ years ago I trained with the Northern Institute of Massage. I went on to other training including reflexology and manual lymphatic drainage. I have specialised in MLD now, and primarily work with lymphoedema patients, and also Palliative Massage.
