Hi and greetings from sunny Somerset! [sm=wave.gif] What a splendid idea ... but did I imagine it, or was there a thread somewhere recently about regional meet-ups? This will probably cover both I do know of quite a number of local events forthcoming throughout the summer -like camps and green events - alsoshops and healing centres that also run workshops, and so on, but before posting details and websiteswould appreciate some guidance as to what is, or is not, acceptable to post, viz a viz HP and the advertisers. Perhaps such guidelines could be posted generally at the top of the sub-forum for all counties? Thanks. Holistic EDIT: Just changed the subject line slightly, since I am v. close to the Somerset/Devon border.
RE: Somerset Hi Laura[sm=wave.gif] You're correct, these sub forums are designed to cover meet- ups and events. I'll see if I can arrange some guidelines to be posted
RE: Somerset Hi folks! As I hope to be moving to Wellington in July/Aug time I thought I would come and say hi now! Somerset Angel and I have come up with an idea that might cover some of the things that members have asked for so if anyone lives in villages/towns around Axbridge/Cheddar Gorge area let us know. If enough interest by like-minded people will give more info later lol! Love and light reikiangel xxx
RE: Somerset Sounds most intriguing, Reikiangel. I'm sure I'd be interested to hear more in due course. In the meantime, as you may have read above, I have asked for some guidelines as to what we may or may not post here, and I'm sure they'llappear as soon as they're available. Holistic
RE: Somerset I'm at Somerton, work also in Street and sometimes in Wellington, so watching this thread with interest! Rustic
RE: Somerset Hi Holistic! Yep, saw the post re what can be mentioned which is why I said no more about our idea! Since attending drumming workshops with Scott Jasper last year and at MBS in Brentwood last month I think I am getting hooked lol. Could be looking you up once I'm officially down your way. Love and light reikiangel xxx
RE: Somerset I'll look forward to that Drumming, like HP, can get addictive! Did you see the threadfrom awhile ago in the Music forum, about djembe drumming: [link=http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=284839]http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=284839[/link] Guidelines - being discussed and I'll get back soonest Laura.
RE: Somerset hi, I would be interested in some Drumming workshop too! anyone has something to say about Frome, as a place to live in?
RE: Somerset Hi Fadette, I have lived on and off in Frome for 2 years but am not a local. Maybe that gives me better insight. I'm sure I've seen drumming workshops advertised right here. I actually don't know what to say about Frome. Personally I kind of like it as I'm used to big cities. I never lived in a town this small in the UK before. It's very friendly! There's oodles of things happening for a place so small, but then again, not much if you are used to big cities (one cinema, one screen, so take or leave what's on!). Every place has its good and bad points. Central Frome is real nice with old buildings, about 500 years old, so 'quaint', and I stay there. But in the 60s on it was expanded with typical housing estates lacking any character. I wouldn't want to be there, no way. Somerset itself is new to me, having usually been in London .... but think Somerset and you think 'coutryside'. In fact Frome iself has no real park, and for greenery you need your own big garden or to get out - real bizarre. Apparently there's a big drug problem here, but it doesn't impact ordinary people and crime is about zero. The local paper has headlines like "Lady in 70s dropped her purse" ... which you do chuckle atcoming from bigger places. Does that help? There is a 'New Age' scene here but not to suit everyone. I'm just used to London where there's everything under the sun. Venetian
RE: Somerset hi I am in Axbridge near cheddar so would love to meet up with people in somerset. Can't wait for Reiki Angle to join me down in Somerset dont know if Somerset is ready for the two of us LOL. I know of a drumming group that meets in Weston Super Mare on a sunday afternoon could find out more details if anyone wants them.
RE: Somerset Hello all!!![sm=wave.gif] I am a Devon girl, but I live on a very big hill so I can kinda see Somerset from here!! Does that count?!!! Am I welcome?!![sm=hug.gif] xxxx[sm=jump1.gif]
RE: Somerset Somerset Angel Many thanks for the suggestion. I drum with a group in Weston-super-Mare, so it's probably the same one. If you have the details handy, PM them to me and I'll compare. As several people in this thread have expressed an interest in drumming (hooray!), I've put a couple of links to websites in a new thread. Guidelines as to what we may or may not post regarding eventshave been promised for after the Bank Holiday, so we'll all just have to hang in there for a wee while longer. But I haven't forgotten, and they ARE in hand serendipity [sm=wave.gif] *waves back* I can see you if I lean out of the window Are you welcome? OF COURSE you're welcome, and I hope it's reciprocated because I'm about to pay you a visit in Devon - and my other near neighbours in Dorset - I live a few miles from Ilminster so am quiteclose to both. Laura.
RE: Somerset With all these HP drummers in the SW, it strikes me that if mods won't allow a subject on-forum, you can just DRUM the messages around! V
RE: Somerset LOL, V, excellent idea ... if you stand at the top of the hill, you should be able to hear us and send back a message I went to Frome to look at a house before I moved here, and recall rather a steep hill. I wasn't ignoring your post earlier, BTW, sorry if it looked that way. Re your comment about the greenery ... I just drove into town to do a bit of shopping, and was struck anew by the sheer beauty of the countryside. It's all "greened up" just in the last couple of days, and is quite breath-taking. City life? No thanks, I can always visit. I'll put up a couple of website links in a separate thread and amend my post above. Laura.
RE: Somerset Hi Holistic a colleauge at work goes to the drumming group I know Scott Jasper goes there every so often to run the group. I will ask when I see my work mate.
RE: Somerset I'm sure we're all talking the same language here! See the Dragonflymoon link on the drumming thread - Scott Jasper does lead the group at Weston quite often.
RE: Somerset Hi I would love to join you guys. I am from Devon, but my Mum was born in Somerset,so I have a certain amount ofSomerst blood in me, will that be acceptable. Hails xx
RE: Somerset [sm=wave.gif]Hi Hails, it's lovely to see you here, and I think it's a good idea that people check out what the "neighbours" are up to Why not also pop a post into the Devon forum - and say hifrom there maybe? I started a hello thread yesterday and it would be great to have some others join in
RE: Somerset Well, brace yourselves Somerset!! If everything goes according to plan my daughter and I will be in Wellington on the 11th August. Don't say I didn't warn you lol! Love and light reikiangel P.S Anyone going to Bill Harrison's Healing Festival next week? If so let me know and Somerset Angel and I will make ourselves known (along with Magpie who now lives in Spain but coming over just to go!!).
