I had a look at my website on my shiny new smartphone today (ooh, get me being all 21st century!) but noticed that the site is not exactly smartphone friendly. Is there a way of improving designs that work well for normal computers and smartphones?

The answer short answer is yes.

It used to be a lot more painfull in the days of WAP, because you virtually had to have 2 versions of the website, one for mobile, one for PCs.

Now it's differenct and possible to have a website to can do both. It depends a lot on what tools you use and what technology your website is based on, i.e. if you're using plugins, are they compatibile with mobile browsers?

All my websites are written in HTML with JAVA script to maximise compatibility, Then as a minimum I test against both mobil and PC.

    Hi David

Your website will be viewable on smartphones.

you can get a mobile website made up that will be displayed of a mobile device accesses your site.

We can create these at healthhosts for approx £150.

however, in my opinion i dont think people really care for mobile sites that much, generally these are cut down versions of the main site and may not display the full info that people are looking for. I never have any probs browsing full sites on my iphone, and i prefer to browse the full site rather than a mobile version... thats just me...
