I know you cannot do anything about people who refuse to use punctuation and paragraphs, etc., but would it not be a good idea to have just one font available, preferably, 'Arial' or 'Verdana', either of which are easy to read?

There are currently some excellent discussions underway on the forum, but I have to say I just skip over those comments written in a style that makes my eyes water and my head ache!

I know it is good to have a choice, but why choose a font or a style that makes your post such hard work to read?

    Hi Derek,

Most people do use the default font, but others are available so that people can express themselves as they wish. Please bear in mind this is a friendly forum for discussion, not some technical or business oriented forum.

I know what you mean about some being difficult to read, though I think that can also come down to people's own knowledge of what can be easy to read or not, and whether they know how to quote other people's words or not.

I think it would be a bit of a cold place if people were limited to just one or two fonts.

Thank you Giles. I understand your comments.

My post was, I know, simply my personal view, although I know, from some occasional comments from others, that I am not alone in finding it difficult to read some posts.

I would say, however, that I belong to a number of forums and some of them have only one default font. Those forums have never struck me as being 'cold' places, and there are plenty of other ways of expressing one's self!

    Hello there Derek :),

I'm not certain about other browser, but with IE 9 you can zoom your screen size (bottom right corner) ~ this might help :)

    Urmmm... if you're reading this...

Hello WildStrawberry and thanks for the tip - unfortunately it merely exacerbates the problem!

I must say I agree with Derek - some fonts people use on here can be really difficult to read, which can be more of a problem especially if the reader is dyslexic or has attention difficulties - I find that with some posts (especially longish ones) in certain fonts or in bold, after the initial attempt to read them I give up after a couple of sentences as I struggle to concentrate, even with the topics that are of interest to me.

Overall I love the variety, flexibility and informality of HP but in this instance I would vote for clarifty and practicality!

It may be better to PM those people directly and point out your concerns. I'm sure it's only a handful. Let's face it most people just use the default one don't they. ;)
