    Hi folks,

At 29 I'm sick of the amount of body hair I have. Since hitting puberty I've been plucking, shaving, waxing, epilating etc & I'm finding it's getting worse as I get older. I hate to think of just how much time I have spent removing hair.

It's gotten to the extent where it is having a real effect on my self esteem regarding my appearance. I get really paranoid about it at times. I have very pale skin & almost black hair, so the "extra" hair really shows up. I've even had people ask me about the hair when I thought screw it & let it grow. (after the shock of their obvious lack of manners I have felt SO embarrassed about it) The hair can grow to a good 2 inches or so if left.

I've been to the doctor in the past & tests came back negative (PCO etc) & was told that it was hormonal & I was put on Dianette which did reduce the amount & make the remaining hair finer. However I found whenever I saw a nurse I would be b***hed at as if I was out of line & would get lectures about "You should only be on it for 3 months!" I tolerated it for about 2 years & came off it. I kinda regret it now.

I have a coil fitted now (T Nova) could that have something to do with it?

Anyway I turn 30 in a couple of months & my fiance has asked me what I would like for my birthday & I immediately said hair removal.
The hair I really want rid of are those on my chin, around my nipples & the area between my belly button & panty-line.

I did try an at home laser machine but it didn't do a thing. Obviously a salon laser will be stronger.
Due to the amount of money these procedures cost & level of discomfort I want to make sure that I get a result, even if it's a lessening or thinning of hair.
I was wondering what other peoples experiences of electrolysis &/or laser were & which they would recommend.

    Thanks for reading :)

definitely laser- you will not look back- go somewhere reputable- you get what you pay for and offers etc are often not the best option- its your skin so treat it with care and respect....save up if need be.....good luck! :)

I had IPL all on my face .. I suffer from PCOS, however not on any medication. It worked on the thick dark hair, i had to stop because i fell pregnant and my therapist was not comfortable continuing the treatment. Now 10 years later the fine hair have now become not so fine, so i am now looking into laser. i know this thread is old ... have you had any success

Go for laser hair removal. I worked in this field and would recommend it for anyone. Not so sure about IPL, but laser works, it is different from IPL. If you have already been waxing for months/years it will have a better effect as the hairs would have already become thinner and spaced out laser will zap the remaining hairs. If you have not done anything before e.g. waxing or other treatments then it would take longer however will still work.
